Getting ahead on knitted gifts

There are a few people in my life who have birthdays coming up, and I wanted to get a head start on gifts for them. I don’t want to get caught up in any last minute hand-cramping moments because I didn’t manage my time efficiently.

I managed to squeeze out two projects out of two skeins of Lion Brand Heartland, colorway: Glacier Bay. It might actually be three since I have a little over 100 yards left of it. The yarn has a pretty heathered effect on it and has a nice weight but still feels soft. It’s a lovely blue green color; like how I’d imagine a body of water with ice floating on it, I suppose, so it’s aptly named.

“I wish I knew how to quit you.”
Never saw the movie, but so appropriate with my relationship to this hat pattern: Star Crossed Slouchy Beret by Natalie Larson on Ravelry. It’s such an easy, clear pattern that results in a lovely hat that seems to complement everybody.

Yui supervised my knitting:

I wore it out unblocked and it still looks pretty good:

With the rest of the skein, I finally got to make the New Bittersweet Cowl by Megan Goodacre which I’ve been eyeing for quite a while. I love the very simple leaf-like pattern bordered by garter stitches. I don’t have a particular person in mind for this cowl; it may end up going to the same person who receives the hat above or someone other lucky soul.
